Memorial Day weekend is here and we are excited to kick off our “Music on the Water” summer series this evening! Every Friday night between Memorial Day and Labor Day, our sunset cruise aboard the Double Dolphin features live performances from a variety of local musicians. Check out the full summer lineup here.
We sat down with artist David Segall to discuss the “Music on the Water” summer series. David’s group performed last year, and this summer they are playing a show June 16th and closing the series Labor Day weekend. David is further connected to the Sailing Center as a former student, taking 3 levels of courses with us before eventually purchasing his own boat, which is docked in the Santa Barbara Harbor. As a boat owner and an avid sailor, David has a great appreciation for the unique musical venue that the Double Dolphin provides for a live show. Many of David’s songs are either about sailing or were written while sailing the Santa Barbara Channel, so he finds extra inspiration performing under sail with the rhythm of the ocean. Check out David’s latest album “Godspeed”, which is named after an old boat in the harbor.
Long-time regulars Jim Connolly Trio and Ulysses will carry on their performing streak this summer. DJ Gavin Roy will set the ideal mood for a summer night on the water with his three different themed performances. Sail away into island time with Ross Harper on the steel drums, and kick off your Fiesta weekend with George Quirin on the Spanish guitar. Local rock group Feral Vida will be adding the Double Dolphin to their ever-growing list of Santa Barbara venues, and finally, reggae group Cydeways is on board to open the series up this evening.
